About the adventure
A quest for the heart of the comet! You have come to the town of Blufield to celebrate the annual harvest festival. And then, like a falling star, a comet descends from the heavens and crashes over the horizon. You, and the other members of your party, are given a quest: Find where it crashed, retrieve the heart of the comet, and bring it back. And be quick about it, because many people saw the comet fall, and you won't be the only ones trying to get it. This campaign will be in the style of a quest, where the journey itself is the adventure. On the way to the comet you will encounter rivals, monsters, allies, and treasure, and it's only with teamwork and a little smarts that you'll be able to reach your goal first. New and experienced players alike are welcome, and all game concepts will be taught as they're introduced so no one feels left behind.

About me
I've been DMing and playing ttrpgs (with adults and kids) at least weekly for the past 8 years. In my local community (Pittsburgh), I've run week-long D&D camps for middle schoolers and am in the process of developing an organized after-school program. My style is instructional but flexible; I teach the game to new players so they have a grasp of the rules and are equipped to go play with others, but I will always roll with their suggestions and take the adventure where they think the fun is.

What to expect
Preparing for the session
Players will need access to D&D Beyond for their character sheets and Zoom for our video call. If players prefer to copy their character information onto paper, that is just fine. Players will also need the ability to roll dice, either physically or digitally, the latter of which is included in D&D Beyond.
What Colten brings to the table
An adventurous story and a safe table. I teach the rules to players with all levels of knowledge, and ensure that the table's focus stays on fun and cooperation. And while the adventuring life is rife with challenges, and sometimes even setbacks, I ensure that players always leave my table feeling like they made a difference and their actions mattered.

Platforms used
D&D Beyond
D&D Beyond is the official digital companion platform for Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition. It offers character building and management tools, content collection, navigation, and organization, and a suite of virtual tabletop tools like encounter builders, and maps in both 2D and 3D.
Zoom
Zoom is a videoconferencing software used for video and telecommunications around the world by businesses, governments, and of course, RPG groups! It's a simple, functional, and ubiquitous program for reliable video chat.

Identity Verification
Your Dungeon Master will verify each player's identity at the start of each session before letting you into the call.

Dedicated Trust & Safety
Our team works to ensure that every player has a welcoming, safe, and fun experience. We are ready to assist if needed.
How Colten creates a safe table
During the character creation period we will discuss the concept of lines and veils and players will be invited to share theirs. If at any point during the session a player has questions or feels uncomfortable, I welcome and encourage them to speak up, and I'll be keeping a close eye on group dynamics and player comfort. After each session, we'll go over Stars and Wishes, which give players an opportunity to encourage each other and voice where they hope the story goes next.
