About Adam Wright

I have been passionate about tabletop role playing games for decades, both as a Dungeon Master running sessions, as a player, and as a writer. I write and publish independent tabletop adventures, wrote an official scenario for Paizo's Pathfinder Society Organized Play program, and write a Substack called Insight Check where I talk about tabletop systems and storytelling. My background is deeply rooted in supporting and mentoring young people. I worked for three years as a Special Education teacher for students with emotional and developmental disabilities. I have spent years volunteering in classrooms, assisting with high school drama productions, and serving as a Den Leader, Cub Master, and Assistant Scoutmaster in Scouting America. I continue to volunteer with Scouting America now that my child is grown. As a parent who regularly ran campaigns for scouts and my own family and friends, I know firsthand how valuable tabletop games are for helping kids build confidence, practice teamwork, and develop creative problem-solving skills in a safe environment. At my table, I focus on creating a welcoming, structured space where kids feel comfortable speaking up and working together. My goal is to guide players through fun, heroic adventures where everyone gets a fair share of the spotlight and leaves the session feeling capable and heroic.

My game style

I love running games with a mix of roleplay, creative problem solving, and exciting action. Every session features at least one of the core pillars of Dungeons & Dragons: Social Interaction, Exploration, and Combat. I place a strong emphasis on story over rigid rules, though the rules remain our steady guide for what characters can accomplish. I highly value outside-the-box thinking, and if the party finds a clever way to outsmart a trap or talk their way past an encounter, I will always let that creativity shine. My youth games lean into high-adventure fantasy, heroic journeys, and puzzle solving where teamwork is the key to defeating villains. Silly voices are always welcome but never required. I provide pre-generated character sheets to help players jump straight into the fun, and I run both classic published adventures and rich homebrew campaigns. I host both youth-only tables and private family games tailored across the official age bands: 9-10, 11-12, 13 t-14, 15 -16, and 17 and up. In family games ages may be mixed, but I will keep as close to those age bands as possible. For new families, I provide an initial consultation to answer any questions, and for ongoing campaigns, I run a dedicated session zero so we can collaborate on character concepts, themes, and shared expectations before our heroic adventure begins.
